Listing our web address

for you to check out all our new listings. WWW.NORCALHORSECOMMUNITY.COM don't forget to look at all we offer now. We are getting bigger each month.

Horse photo tips

Seems now more than ever there are so many horses for sale. Give your horse a better chance by just doing a few simple things.
  • bath your horse and groom them to look thier best
  • stand your horse squared and show off thier conformation
  • take photos from all sides to give a perpective buyer a good idea of your horse's build
  • make sure his/her feet are trimmed, mane and tail combed out

A clean, shiny horse willnot only show off thier beauty and conformation but look to be in better overall health/care.

Snapping a quick photo of your dirty pony grazing, just doesn't do it justice and doesn't often appear that the seller really cares. Present your horse as if you were presenting him/her to a judge at a show.

If your having a gard time snapping the right shot, go pick up a local horse magazine. See how they pose/stand thier horses for the best shot.

It can only help sell your horse! They deserve it.

Ok Pyranha fly spray lovers! I have a surprise

Buy it for $11.95!! Whoa. Even with shipping (I purchased several bottles) it is WAY cheaper than your feed store. I found TSC carries it, if you can find it in stock that is. Even then it is $14.99 at TSC. I had to share my find. Now I am off to find lower prices on the first aid products that my Daughter's dog ate. Gotta love replacing NEW items. lol. Pinching pennies anywhere we can.

Are you going to be effected by TANC's proposal?

We need to get our Right's and information before it is too late. The Cottonwood meeting discussed submitting a no trespass letter and the intent of charging TANC if they so deicide to request access to your land. Aditionally I was informed tonight there are forms we will need to fill out and submitt to TANC's big wig David Young BEFORE May 31 in order to stop them. Here is a website with lots of information for us property owners in thier proposed route. Go to WWW.STOPTANC.COM

If you have additional information PLEASE add on here and help the community get involved and informed. WE are all WE have. They would prefer the people not be educated I'm sure.

I have to bring Walco into this Blog again.

I'm pretty busy at the shows this weekend, but had to tell ya'll if you haven't made it to Walco yet, I found another reason. Ivermectin wormer... $3. Ivermectin Gold, $12.99 AND they carry the Repel-X lotion I love. The ONLY decent fly repellent that will fit in my saddle bag with out making a mess. I used to buy quantities of it when I visited Vacaville. No one around here carries it. NOW they do! Prices at Walco are pretty amazing and saving me a ton. If we all begin buying and requesting more horse products (they mainly carry cattle products) we could be saving money on more of our horse products we so despiratley save and spend on. So get the word out, it will save us all money. And ALL of us can use that right now.

If your out showing this weekend too, have fun and good luck! Give your horses a treat. 1/2 cup molases (dark molases) and a few gallons water. Mix till it looks like a tea color or darker. Your horses will stay hydrated because who turns down molases?

We are BACK!

Life with out your laptop is horrible. How did we exist? Well I am back to blog and surf as I want. Whew!
During my time down, I purchased a new horse. But I couldn't wait to share with my fellow readers, my recent experience. I found a horse on craiglist (CL) that sounded promising. The price was right, the horse sounded right. What could go wrong? I gathered a few friends and we made the trip to Redding. Well, actually we stopped in Cottonwood to grab a bite to eat and await the directions. Meanwhile I was getting mixed feelings about the seller I was dealing with. She sounded like a child, but swore she was an adult. lol. (Hmm,... first clue?) The seller was supposed to call me at 4 whe she got off work to give me directions. I'd already be on my way to Redding to meet up with her. SHe couldn't give me the address yet, her Mommy didn't give her permission. Huh, you'd think she would have called ahead since we made these plans the day before! But ya know, thats just me. What do I know? She told me she would call me back with the location when her Mom said it was ok. I'm getting a bad feeling now. We waited another hour, well ya know you and your friends get to gabbing time can pass. SO I call the seller back, she told me was still waiting! I told her I didn't have all day. She promised to call me right back. She never called me back, infact she turned her cell phone off. A flake as expected. The girls and I went shopping and when I returned home later.... guess what I found? The horse relisted for $300 more. Now see, CL time stamps your add. She POSTED this new add WHILE WE WERE WAITING ON HER! I felt sorry for the horse. To be held captive my such a crazy lady. And btw.... crazy lady was part of her email! Bwaahaaaa! OMG I should have known! Well, we certianly got a good chuckle out of it. Live and Learn.

So many horses for sale

I now understand what a "hoof kicker" is. I also had a rib polker. Oh yea, I did. My horse didn't care for that at all. But I guess everyone has thier own way of kicking hooves. My biggest pet peeve when looking for a horse is a huge mis judgement in hands. I went to go look at ahorse that was 14.1 and turned out to be 11. lol, big difference! ( well my largest pet peeve is lying, but we won't get me on that soap box)
I'm curious if folks will post thier experiences.

Any local folks heading out to any shows this weekend?

Uncle, Uncle!

Ok, while I'm glad winter is gone (except maybe this weekend I hear????) do you notice your property growing? Ugh, I forgot what work the beautiful weather brings. So aside from mowing, grooming, cleaning stalls and working- I got nuthin. lol. I miss dead grass. lol
I did get out to buy a few bales of hay however.
All I have to say is, if you don't buy hay from a grower you MUST find one. My grower isn't done bailing. I had to buy 2 bales of grass to get us by until Thursday. OMG! Darn near $40 bucks for TWO bales of hay! Where the heck have I been? OUCH. Ok,..... if your buying your hay from the feedstore we need to talk and I must introduce you to a few excellent growers in the Red Bluff area. Your check book will thank me.
Happy Trails!!

Where's Walco?

I posted about the huge savings on vaccinations at Walco Animal Health in Red Bluff, but I guess my site ate it. In these times we can all save some dough, specially horse owners. Right? I bought WNV the other day and found they were $11 cheaper than the feedstore. That is HUGE. I saved over $50 on my purchase. Thats almost TWO trims!!

Also we have a few new horses added to the Classifieds today. I, myself, wouldn't mind one of them. But.... I'm trying to keep money not spend more of it. We also have a dynomite distributor to the Trainer section. Michelle Barnes is a local distributor. I can't afford most the products, but I do keep the DynaPro on hand 24/7. That product is a MUST have!

Have you tried Pyranha Fly Spray? WOW! Thats all I can say. It is a must try, worth it's weight in gold. FINALLY a fly spray that actually works for days. If you find it for less that $18 for a 32 oz bottle, I expect you to share your sources. It is only proper!
I found some other savings I thought I would share. Did you know Costco is carrying rubbermaid water troughs and grain? Weird huh? Ofcourse local Walmart stores carry horse products (Redding & Red Bluff) and I haven't seen that since I was in Kansas. lol.
Anyhow, the water troughs are $59. I would have bought another one, but I was with a friend in thier car.
I also wanted to share that non-profit (501c) equine organizations can advertise for free on our site.
Fees for other advertisments will be added to the home page. Don't worry, they will be recession savvy prices. ;-)

Welcome!

Well we are new to blogging but not new to business. Myself and a few friends felt our area really needed a site to share community events, concerns and information. Hopefully this can work as an amazing tool for local horse owners. Our focus will be the I-5 valley from Sacramento to the Oregon boarder. Towns like Shasta Lake, Redding, Red Bluff, Anderson, Corning, Orland, Woodland, etc just to name a few will benefit. We can list upcoming horse shows and clinics, etc. Won't that be nice?
This blog site and it's partner http://www.norcalhorsecommunity.com/ will be your local horse community connectiom!

SO do you have anything to add? Feedback? Some events you may want to post about that are coming up?
Shoot us an email at shelly@norcalhorsecommunity.com
We'd love to hear from you!
